What will happen if I run the heater of a CRT at 3.8Vac instead of 4.0 Vac as directed by the manufacturer?

We use these very high resolution monochrome CRTs in flying spot scanners. I'm interesting in extending CRT life but not interested in physically damaging the CRT or diminishing its usable life. I understand that running a heater (filament, cathode) at lower voltage will lower electron emissions slightly and thus lower CRT brightness. When running between 3.8Vac and 4.0Vac the brightness change in the output of the CRT is negligible. If you need more information I'll provide it.

Why would my rats eat one of thier cage mates?

okay, so i had 3 femalse and 1 male rat all in the same HUGE cage for quite sometime, they have been cagemates since ive gotten them. then today i found one of the females on the top level of the cage. the others had eaten her inside and out, just the skin and a few what looked like spine and leg bones left. i dont understand why they all of a sudden would have done this, being cagemates so long..however when i tried to take the body out one of the back legs was stuck in the cage. so maybe she was stuck and injured and they killed her off? or maybe she was pregnant?? or maybe one of the other females is pregnant?? please help...i need my question answered...

Am I depressed or stupid?

I have had seeious trouble sleeping, tossing and turning all night. I have had a shitton of cravings and am eating alot, but am not gaining weight. I sometimes get these moods, that last a few hours, that make me feel amazing, though most of the time i'm easily angered, out of energy, tired, unmotivated, pissed, sad, and pissed. I do not have unexplained pains or aches. I have thought about, planned suicide. I wrote a note, but can't actually do it. I have, most of the time, a shitty self confidence. I am stressed out alot most of the time. I try to avoid contact with my family, but don't mind strangers or friends. I often do really stupid **** for noreason. I only drink or use drugs very occasionally, like once a month. I'm 16. I am a male. No current relationship. No recent traumatic experience, last one was 3 years ago when dad died on my birthday. No diminish in sex drive. I don't see a change in my mood in different seasons, but i have an awful memory and can't recall feelings at all and can rarely remember scenes. So they will judge you firstly on your grades and the subjects you've already studied, and then way after that they will see your application. Also a personal statement is there for a few reasons, not just to talk about why you like that course but also to give an idea of your english and grammar skills etc, your personality and to show that you have a life and other interests so are a well-rounded person. And also remember that they deal with clearing every year, so they will know how hard it is for students to get onto popular courses and are more willing to bend their usual rules to fill their course, so will be favourable towards people with lower grades or who intended to go for something different.

What are a few exercises I can do with an injured leg?

About 3 weeks ago, I pulled a muscle in my lower leg. I'm strictly not allowed to run at all, for 2 whole weeks, and counting. I just lost a ton of weight, and was starting to become such a healthy person. So, on the weekend, this boy told me how he missed me and really liked me. In the past, he told my friends he really liked me, but started talking a lot less. Why does my dog try to kill (or help) my kitten?

I have a kitten, and have HAD kittens before, that my female, fixed, 11 year old dog has tried to kill. I'm not sure if she is actually TRYING to kill the kittens, or she thinks she's helping them. My first set of kittens were just old enough to stop nursing off their stray mum, and it was winter, so I decided to slowly take away the kittens as not to make her panic. She never noticed, and the kittens were fine. They drank water and ate normal food. I left the kittens out in the living room one day, only to come home and find my dog had killed them all. She had bit the heads off. Now I witnessed her doing this with my new kitten, but all she did was try and GENTLY pick the kitten up in her teeth, and as she picked her up I caught her and made her drop it. It's unhurt and fine, but I'm not sure, does she view the kitten as a baby of her own, or possibly does she think it's an injured, orphaned animal and she wants to help? Or does she want to kill it off for sport? We have a few full grown felines and she has never tried to hurt them or anything. In fact, she'll often let one of the cats sleep next to her. She's never attacked or been attacked by our cats.

I met a guy on FB about a month ago, he's and old friend, of an old friend of mine (do I make sense?lol) anyways, we've been IMing and commenting on each others posts and what not since then. Several years ago, with regard to AMC, I put out the opinion that the writers were deliberately trying to ruin the show so it could be canceled. Everyone told me I was paranoid, but I could not for the life of me understand why TPTB would keep writers like Megan McTavish and Charles Pratt on board when all they were getting was complaints about stupid storylines, plot exaggerations and character ruin. In view of the recently announced cancellations, I don't think I was wrong. I think it was an intention plot by Brian Frons (who BTW assured the viewers that AMC & OLTL were not going anywhere) to bring the ratings down so he could put some low-rent garbage on - like The Chew. Who the heck wants to watch something called The Chew? The Food Network would probably kick it to the curb for the name alone. I don't think TPTB necessarily Knew that soaps would end someday (although it's always possible), but I will go to my grave believing that Frons was directly responsible for the demise of a show that had 40+ year loyalty from viewers in favor of shows that probably won't last more than 6 months to a year.

Advice on clingy friend?

I met my friend in college and we had a lot of things in common. She is also a year younger than me. Everything was fine at first, but when she had to transfer out of college, everything changed. I had to pick up on my life and move on while still being in contact with her. The difference between me and her was that I am not the type of person that constantly needs to talk on the phone nor need to hang out every single day. Well, I have been going through a lot with my sister's death a year ago, and while I am glad she was there for me at the funeral my friend did not call within the first two months after my sister''s death like all my other friends did. Fast forward...a few months I originally planned for us to celebrate her bday, I was not able to do so because I had a senior capstone to do that contains intense research, and she knew about it. About two weeks before that it was MY bday and she asked when what I was doing, and I told her I was going to the club, and since she was 20 at the time, she could not come. I offered to make it up to her and told her to come over so we can go out, but she never called me back nor let me know that she couldn't make it. My puppy won't stand up and is lethargic... what's going on?

My puppy is 10 months old and he is pretty active. However, just this evening, he started acting very odd. He looked rather depressed, despite the fact that all day today he was happy. He couldn't climb up the stairs, where he was perched on the middle step. He wouldn't stand up when we interacted with him, and when we helped him up, he could barely stand properly on his back legs. He didn't yelp, whine, or act aggressive in any way. He had his tail between his legs but he could stand on his own. He refused to walk or go outside, and as soon as he was up, he lay back down, acting depressed again. We felt his tummy, looked at his gums, and felt the rest of his body for any other signs of trauma or swelling. His muscles around his abdomen and leg area were somewhat tense, which caused us to look at signs of bloat. He does not seem to have that. In fact, he seemed to have a good appetite, eating his food and drinking some water. We suspect that he has a muscle injury, but we are unsure, as he does not act as if he is in pain, other than the fact that he looks very depressed with his tail between his legs. He will not straighten his hind legs all the way when we massage the seemingly injured area. Is this a muscle injury, or is it something else? Should he be taken to the veterinarian, or just observed and rested for awhile?

Shoulder surgery question?

i have to hold off my shoulder surgery until the beginning of the year due to my job. i am already taking Vicodin 7.5 with ibuprofen 800 and i take Oxycontin at night but only on Friday and Saturday when i don't have to be at work. any suggestions on how to handle the pain and stiffness until the beginning of the year. i have to have arthritic tissue taken out, a spur taken out, bone shaved down and they are going to cut my bicep tendon and "just let it fall down". i cant take the time off of work, i am the only one working and wont have any paid days off until January comes around again. my doc says i need two to six weeks off. but the pain is getting to be too much and my range of motion is diminishing. any help is appreciated as the pain meds i have now aren't helping.

Restoring a M1 Garand and a M1 Carbine?

Hi, i recently inherited a M1 Garand and a M1 Carbine from my Grandfather and was wonder, would restoring them diminish the value or raise it. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME .....?

..i am a 40 yr old female....the X-ray of my LUMBER SPINE AP /LAT ..reads space between L5 - S1 is diminished -changes in disc straightening of normal curvature of lumber spine is due to muscular spasm......i have been experiencing pain in my left hip-calf for the last 15 days..so the X ray ..now my querry is what are the cures..guidelines...and exercises for the same ..all are welcome be it yoga..or any other form ..because i am a teacher i have to sit and stand for a considerable time ...i stopped going to the gym 3 months back ..but i go for a walk 6 days a week and i do a lot of household work myself (no full time maid )...i just want to be NORMAL..PAINFREE...so please HELP :D :D

Trying to get info about a knee injury i have?

I have a knee injury that has me confused. I am considering going to the doctor to have it looked it, but I want to make sure it is worth the trip (I hate going to the doctor for nothing). I play softball, and my knee only hurts minimally while I play. It's the next day that I experience a lot of pain. The day after a game, I have very limited flexibility in my knee. The pain is in my right knee, towards the outside of my leg. From what I have looked up, the pain seems to be in the general area of the lateral collateral ligament. I do not think it is an injury to the ligament, as I experienced no "pop", no swelling, no immediate trauma to the area. I have no issue bearing weight on the injured leg, but when it is in a bent position, I can not push off (i.e. climbing/descending the stairs). Some movements that most noticeable hurt seem to be when I try to remove my foot from my shoe, or when I try to lift my foot from the gas pedal to the brake while driving. Any insight would help, thank you.
